Right up behind the cabin there is a trail where you can hike up to a waterfall. The first Sunday afternoon we were there we took Cal up there for the first time. It was beautiful and so fun to show him a spot I've been to a thousand times.
Two and a half years ago my sweet Grandpa passed away. He and my darling Grandma are buried next to each other there in the Bayfield Cemetery. They loved these mountains more than anyone and it is such a treasure getting to visit their special spot when we are up there.
Just the 3 of us. We're best friends.
Cal going for a spin
One afternoon we decided to brave it and take Cal to his very first movie. We were on vacation after all! We thought we'd try seeing UP and Cal was so so so excited. We were excited too. In fact, so excited we ridiculously decided to buy a big package of candy and two large Slurpees and allowed our child to devour them at the very beginning of the movie. Note to self: if you are going to give your child large quantities of sugar, DON'T plan on them sitting through an movie and more likely plan on chasing them in the theater lobby while they spin around like a small person on crack the entire second hour. Literally.
The movie was still awesome though....and lucky me, Dan was the one doing the lobby chasing while I even shed a few tears. :) I guess we'll hope for better luck next time! At least he looked cute.....
REALLY cute
Strong evidence of the sugar overdose. Do you see how intense he is about getting that drink into his mouth?!
And a few more random pics from week one of the vacation:
Mid-day Ice Cream runs at the lake General Store. The weather was perfect, but the afternoons got warm.
Playing at the cabin and spinning endlessly.
Lots of resting and relaxing
Exploring fun toys found at abandoned cabins nearby :)
And trying to be a true backwoods kid. He loved this bear and kept hugging and kissing him. He was so excited to wear his hat.
