First Time Fishing

Dan loves to fish. Fly fishing is his favorite and he really just loves it. Although in all truth he'd be up to any kind or type of fishing, you name it. He loved fishing the Provo with his good friends Zane, and Justice, and Matt when we were in school, and since we've been in California, he just hasn't gotten as many opportunities to do it. I, on the other hand, haven't really fished much at all in my grown up years, but I certainly grew up doing it. All the time, all summer long I would hike up the Vallecito with my Dad and Amy, find our perfectly quiet and totally isolated fishing stream, dig up some worms and we'd catch some trout. Dad usually got the fish on for us and then handed us the pole, but we were ecstatic all the same. I love those memories.

So when we were finally at a spot that we could take Cal fishing for the first time, we were pretty excited. We hiked up the Vallecito and of course went off the beaten path to my favorite old fishing and picnic spot. Then Dan got to work and dug up some nice plump worms. He and Cal plopped the line in and in no time we had Cal's first trout on and out of the water. Cal was thrilled and thought it was the coolest thing. He just kept giggling and kept saying he wanted to kiss the fish and then he would actually try. He didn't even mind holding the slippery thing except once when the fish completely flopped up in the air. Yeah, that freaked him out just a little. :) It was so fun watching him though and making that new memory with him.
